Experiential Kite Compositions

This participatory experience asked graphic designers to create a collective form bank by flying kites made of recycled plastic bags in an underutilized field in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. While flying kites, users experimented with depth, chance, and relative placement to make geometric compositions documented from a camera on the ground. By engaging in a green space that gets little foot traffic, it pulls graphic designers who overwhelming work inside, into a new space and signals the space’s use to passersby.

The compositions from these studies were then used to make a poster for RISD' liberal arts programming.
